How did I get these fabulous images of model/actor April Scott In this wild leather bondage outfit?
April and I had set up a date to get together for a shoot in the studio. I wanted to work on some images with the use of color gels to help get a fabulous body shot of April in a very edgy outfit. The outfit we used is made out of leather with studs for a S&M bondage look and as you can see from these images it’s a wild outfit. I set up a black backdrop in the studio and placed one main light on a boom in the front of the April and two half dome softbox’s on each side of her, one on the left & one on the right.
I placed some orange color gel’s inside of the half dome’s (The main image I use blue gel’s) it was easy to do as I just taped the gels on the inside of each of the box’s over the heads of the strobes. I made sure that the modeling lights were off so that they would not melt the gel’s by being so close to the lights inside the boxes. I moved these side light’s (half dome’s) around till I had the look I was going for. I did not want the light to be just a back light, I wanted the light to wash over the model. The main front light which was a beauty dish was going to keep the model face nice a bright with out to much of the color gel light bleeding on her. (It would wash out the color gel light a bit)
Once I had set up my lights the way I wanted them to look we worked out some pose’s, I needed the April to look dreaming in the shots not just a pose to show off the outfit. April is good at given the looks you need as she has spent a lot of time in front of the camera not just as a model but also as an actor.
In these shots I use a Canon 6D with a Tamron® lens 28-75mm with ISO 100. F8. 125sec. Lens was set at 57mm for the framing that I needed. After the shoot I looked at all the shots and came up with these images. I worked on them in Adobe® Photoshop and added a filter with some color and bokeh for a soft dreamy look on each image!
